Tribute to Sweet Olly, a beautiful flatcoat who passed to the Rainbows Bridge just short of fourteen years old in August 2014

Read Now

Olly was Suzanne's breeding female whose flat silky coat did a lot through her puppies in earlier years, to refine and thin the super heavy dense coats on the Australian Labradoodles, that were so hard to maintain. Suzanne loves to hot balloon and Olly was a familiar figure at the days held by the club, quite unphazed by the noise and strangeness of the huge floating sky balloons. May you rest in peace sweet Olly.

Hi Beverley,

I am contacting you with sad news today. My beautiful girl from Rutland Manor, Olly, went for her final visit to the vet in August 2014. She would have turned 14 next month.

She had developed a pinched nerve in her lower back which was causing difficulty for the last year, and in the last two days she has let me know that it is time.

Beverley, I wanted to thank
you for Olly and all the joy (which by far outweighed the frustrations) she has given me over the years. She has retained her unique "Olly-ness" up until the last week.

Her sense of humour and timing have been amazing, along with her sense of speed (she knew she was not allowed to put the electronic windows in the car down over 80km/h but once the car reached that speed I would hear her stomping on the window winder button if I had the childproof locks on - otherwise, the window would simply be put down). Her capacity to bark to get her own way had only deserted her recently and her garbage seek-and-destroy habits along with her penchant of stealing any food she could reach only left in the last week. Her gentleness with adults and children, friends and friends-yet-to-be-met has never deserted her. Her gorgeous smile will live on in many memories and hearts.

She will live on in her puppies with that lovely fine coat that I know she infused back into the breed. I still have owners of her puppies contacting me with updates on their beloved dogs.

I will continue to have Shirley here with me after Olly is gone, and we will be a one-dog household for a while at least. But I know that at some point in the future I will be contacting you for a new household member.
Kindest regards Bev, and many thanks again.

Suzy
