Males can produce many more offspring than females, especially with the advent of canine Artificial Insemination, so it's critical that stud dogs be chosen with the strictest criteria possible, since they can have such a huge impact on a breed for many generations to come.
I look on breeding like weaving a tapestry. I love the challenge of studying bloodlines to see which combinations 'nick' or work together well for what I'm trying to achieve. Boys listed here are only a random sample. They represent bloodlines. Some may be breeding elsewhere across the world, or be de sexed and in happy homes while their frozen semen provides diversity for me to call on from an extensive semen bank stored with the canine reproduction clinic at the CSU.
But each one has been personally loved and cherished at some time for who he is. In his own eyes he is "just a dog" with the same simple needs as every dog on the planet. His greatness to me, is not judged alone by the strength of his genetic impact on the Australian Cobberdog breed, but on the multitudes of tender moments and memories invoked by the thought of his name.
