Rutland Manor Australian Labradoodle Puppies - Travel Stories
It is no coincidence that puppies from Rutland Manor Australian Labradoodle Breeding and Research Centre arrive at their destinations all over the world, so fresh, confident and ready for fun!
I was as nervous as a kitten the first time I sent a puppy overseas on an aeroplane back in 1998. Up until that time I had restricted travel distances to within Australia and it was a huge leap of faith that very first time I said goodbye to a puppy who was flying to the other side of the world. The family I sent that puppy to, had begged me to let a Rutlands puppy come to their family and because of the special circumstances and the fact that there were so few breeders in those days, I agreed.
When the amazed rave reports came back at how the puppy had stepped out of his travel kennel bright, happy and confident and in their words "as if he had only come from around the block" I felt reassured, and the rest is now history.

It's not often I feel so grateful as I do for what you have done for me and I would like to represent the 7 of us in Singapore to Thank You from the bottom of my heart, on such a lovely dog you have given to me. Coco is my dream dog and more. Looks aside, its the temperament and intelligence that sets her aside from the previous dogs I have reared. She is inquisitive but not poky, playful but not naughty and above all, possesses this personality that melts your heart. In our family, she is definitely taking on the Celeb status without any of the Diva attitude !! I compared notes with Labradoodle owners who obtained their dog from different breeders and I must pay compliments to you and the effort you have put into Coco, to make her so presentable and pretty even on the first day touch down. |
From my gathering of information from other owners of other doodle breeders, those poor puppies come to Singapore dishevelled, unkempt and some of them refuse to eat, another was shell shocked and did not make any sound or bark for several days.
Our Coco came into Singapore well groomed ( I can see your groomer did a fantastic job - thanks !) and so relaxed and eager to please - even on the first day of arrival. Our Coco came into Singapore well groomed ( I can see your groomer did a fantastic job - thanks !) and so relaxed and eager to please - even on the first day of arrival. Two days ago, we brought Coco to the vet for a general check up and the Vet commented that she is a relaxed, contented and well nourished dog !!

Talulah Rose (Tula) Arrives Ohio 19th April 2007
TALULAH ROSE ( TULA )
Dear Beverley,
Our Wanda/Baron puppy arrived this morning! I can not tell you how beautiful she is !
She traveled half way around the world and arrived in Colombus Ohio at 6.15 this morning.
She came out of her crate immediately, wagging her tail, alert and happy, giving licks and wiggles and waving her paw. I must say she looked much better and more active that early in the morning than I did !

TEDDY to Vicki, Michael and Valicia in New Jersey May 2003
Hi Beverley
Oh my...we were greeted by the most amazing, gentle beautiful boy, "our chocolate Teddy" this evening in Newark New Jersey. He was SO excited to see us and timid for only about a second. We were delighted to meet two other proud families there to receive their bundles of joy. The puppies are all so beautiful and doing great for such a long trip. You can tell they were (and are) very loved.
Teddy and Valicia (my very gentle 4 year old) are already shadows. If she leaves the room he is right with her. He seems to already own us, if any of us go to another part of the house, he seems to be wondering where we went. What a gentle puppy, so peaceful and loving, we are just completely in awe of our Teddy.
His eyes are just gorgeous, they say it all. We have been blessed with a beautiful soul. We can already see that we have been given the perfect puppy for our family and our needs. We leave for Florida in a few weeks where we will be taking care of my mother who is in a wheelchair and significantly handicapped.
Teddy will be a real blessing for her as well. As I sign out, Teddy and Valicia have fallen asleep, he is on the floor right beside her bed and she is in her bed, her hand hanging down touching his soft fur...hmmmm guess I'll move him to his crate next potty break.
I don't even know how to thank you for giving us this precious gift. Good Night,

CASEY arrives New York 19th April 2007

It's 1:00 A.M. and my wife and I just got home from JFK airport - 2 hours away. The airport was a bit of an ordeal, but our little guy appeared and he was fine. It's amazing that this 10 week old pup goes half way around the world and he was in better shape than I. He's absolutely wonderful. I'll write you tomorrow with some details.
We're getting to know and explore everything. The airport was not easy. A terminal was under construction and no one knew the routines. After an hour from when the plane (already 1/2 an hour late) came in, I found someone who went back and retrieved a crate with an adorable set of eyes peering out. Your suggestion to bring a scissors was most valuable. Upon opening the door there was a moment of careful reluctance and then he ventured out and I was so pleased at how comfortable and together he was. We took over a little corner of the airport and gave him a bit of water and a cube of cheese and off we went.
The 2 hour ride was wonderfully relaxed for us all. Casey just lay on my wife's lap chewing on a wriglet of rawhide. He was amazing. When we got home, we let him roam around our front lawns and fed him the chicken, rice, carrot mix. He ate, but only a little. He also had a bit of yogurt.
Then we all went to bed with him in an open crate next to the bed. We had one 5 minute episode of yelping and that was it. This morning there's been a lot of play and adjusting but we're so pleased. Casey is very playful, still getting to know his new home, but he seems very happy. Well, I won't go on, but thanks for your part in this great spiritual experience.
Of course you can quote me or whatever. It's so sincere that I'll be doing people a favor if they are at all reassured by my experience.

LILY Arrives in Good Health and Spirits to Maureen and Richard B in WI November 2004
Dear Beverley and Everyone at Rutland Manor, I have been waiting to write until I could find the right words. She has been so well prepared and cared for. The very long flight from Australia and the flight to us did not seem to faze her in the least – you can not know how I worried about this.
Lily is absolutely perfect (this is where words fail me). There are so many small things that we marvel at every day – she is friendly to strangers without being hyper, she allows herself to be handled easily – paws, a bit of grooming, face washing etc. She learned to come and sit in one trial (we still practice a lot), she has not had a single potty accident in the house, she eats very well, she responds extremely well to redirection and praise and knows “good girl”. She is playful and enjoys her toys, she is willing to go into her crate – at times on her own (but she would much rather sleep on the kitchen rug) and only protests her crate when she has to go potty. I could go on and on.
Now for the surprises - Lily is far cuter than I had imagined in my wildest dreams. I was in a bit of shock when I saw her for the first time at the airport. Your pictures were wonderful, but still do not begin to do justice to how beautiful she is. I think it has to do with her expression also.

Hello all,
What a puppy you've sent us! Keiko (formerly Jengo) is a living doll. It's hard to believe she has just traveled around the world. We picked her up at 8:00 this morning and she was waiting for us to get her! Very happy to see us. Not scared at all....not jumpy with all the noise.
I don't know how you did it, but she seems not phased by the whole ordeal.
She is loving and accepts like crazy. She is great with the kids. She is finally resting after a morning of playing (one bathroom outside, one unfortunately inside). Like a baby, she likese her mommy next to her when she sleeps. As soon as mommy moves, she's up. I think we might actually get her to nap now!
So thanks again. We will send picures soon so that you will see what a loving home you have given her. Thanks for everything!

Sandy & Family brought three puppies from Australia to Ohio on three separate occasions over a year and a half.

By know I feel like we are all old friends, as today I picked up our family's third Australian Labradoodle from Rutland Manor, Milo . You might think I am a seasoned pro by now, but I was a nervous mother once again. Having nearly memorized each leg of the journey, I knew what to expect and when.
When you love your pets like a true member of your family, letting one fly across the globe to join you is a scary proposition. But those worries are relieved by the time and care I well know you put into these babies to get them ready to fly.
The comfort stop fed Milo, they played with him, made sure he relieved himself, cleaned him up, made sure he rested and was sure to report all of this as well as just how gorgeous he is to me via phone. After a 14 hour flight to LAX on Qantas, and a nice break at the comfort stop in Los Angeles, Milo was ready to journey on to us. He hopped the red eye to Cleveland , Ohio .

Ozwald is a consummate gentleman, and has been very sweet to little Milo (little, hee hee). Matilda has been very funny with her many verbal comments. She has definitely asserted her place as the Vice President of our Pack. Milo has taken it all as if he were here all along and the whole thing was no big deal.
He is happy and healthy and one of our family already. Thanks so very much to Beverley, and the rest of the RM team for another amazing addition to our family. We couldn't have asked for a better pup, but I say that every time. Your friends across the pond,
