Thank you so much to everyone for staying in touch and sharing your pictures and stories of your new puppies with us. We love to hear from you and the many wonderful friendships forged over the years are for us a most precious part of the whole process.

 | Hi Everybody,
First of all, I have say that in our home there has never been as much laughter as there has been in the last month. You just have to look at Luna and you will find yourself smiling - or rather yet, laughing aloud. Our Luna has already several other nicknames including Chewbacca (from Star Wars) given by two separate persons seeing her for the first time. Also we have adopted the name Stitch from her "cousin" in a way that we sometimes say: "now she is in the Stitch mode" when she makes the usual puppy mayhem. |
Character
The looks is one thing (she is adorable and totally healthy), but the character is another.
Beverley has warned that Labradoodles need a lot of training or they will take control as they are so smart. This is a fact - and we love it. It is much better to have a mentally balanced, curious puppy that tries once and a while to con us into her will than one that is scared and/or suspicious of all new things.
One peculiar feature is that she almost never barks. Only twice we have heard that she can actually do it... Vacuum cleaner is just too exciting. Especially we love the fact that she takes contact with everybody. When she comes to the room, she goes through all of us including guests (without any hesitation) to say hi. She does not usually jump on people after a very short training on this issue. The biggest issue is that even though she seems to see me (Mikko) as the head of the pack and follows my doings a bit more carefully, she gives equal acceptance and attention to everybody.
She looks straight to our eyes looking for contact with those beautiful green buttons, but yields when you look longer back. This is a clear sign of healthy submission. We clearly see that she is happy as long as she knows her place in the heard (at the bottom). She enjoys all attention she gets - even if the children go to her when she is sleeping (which we try to prevent), she is immediately glad to oblige and turns on her back for rubbing. When taken into arms, she is so relaxed and trustful that it seems she has no spine at all.
She is also very good with other dogs. She does not charge at them and neither is she afraid. She is just curious and wants to play

As she takes so much contact, it is really easy to teach her. She waits sitting down for her food and when we give her the permission, she approaches the bowl. The same happens when we open the door outside. She waits patiently sitting down that we go out first and call her to join. She can jump to the sofa next to us, but - again - after asking and (always) getting a permission. When we eat, she stays away from the table. We had to show this to her only a couple of times and then it was clear to her. Furthermore, she is easy "in maintenance". She lies on her side when I groom her and cut the nails. This was very easy to teach her as I just did not give her an option in the beginning (no force, but just keeping her still) and after that she has not challenged us once. |
Luna does not need negative feedback (punishments). With positive reactions to all she is doing right is good enough for her as she is thirsty for acceptance. By the way, she also recognizes perfectly the yard boundaries, but once and awhile pushes the limits by a couple of meters - on purpose of course, when she is in the Stitch mode. Then again, she comes back when we call her, so there is no sense in punishing her for that.The only "problem" so far is that the twins (11 y) are a bit jealous to her as we give Luna so much attention, but we think this is also very good for them. Me, Merja, Mika and the girls take daily turns go for small walks with her everyday at least three times even though we have a yard where she can run free. She has no problems what so ever with the leash.

Unique?

OSCAR (Rutlands Anya x Hyland Myst Knossos) Arrives Western Australia Oct 2010
Here are some photos of our little man's arrival. The expression on our faces says it all.
He is a dream puppy and very smart, he even fetches his ball, brings it back and drops it for you to throw again....unbelievable. He has settled so well, it's as if he has always been here.
He is such a beautiful puppy and has been a joy to watch and love for our first full day with him. His toilet training has been going so well and he has done his first 'poo'. He is getting used to wearing his collar and he adores everyone. What an amazing puppy....now I see what everyone is talking about with a Rutland Manor Labradoodle, they really are a unique breed. We love him so much.

  | "Our Vet is Very Impressed!"Hi Bev, Another update for you on our precious little Oscar. I took him to our vet yesterday just for a check up, he's not due for his worming or vaccination until next week.
He gave him a thorough looking over, checked his conformity, heart, lungs, teeth, ears, microchip number and said he was in perfect health. He said he was an outstanding puppy, with an incredible temperament and asked where I got him from, when I told him he said so I guess you'll be spreading the word about this breeder, absolutely, I said. He was full of praise for you. |
He was very impressed with the attention to detail in the paperwork received with our puppy plus the letter for the vet. As we were chatting Oscar just laid down on the table happily, he was so calm, the vet couldn't believe it, he said, look, he is in a new environment that can be stressful and Oscar couldn't care less!
He said he sees every type of dog through his doors but he was able to touch Oscar everywhere and he didn't flinch or look around to see who was holding him, he said I had a real winner. I came home feeling proud as punch.
Thanks again Bev for breeding and raising such well adjusted and healthy puppies, you and your team are worth your weight in gold and he was worth every cent. Love from a very happy Sutton family, and doodle kisses to his Grandma Bev from Oscar. xxx

Buddy Arrives Perth Australia September 2010.
"Our Vet declared Buddy perfect in every way just like Cassie"

Dear Beverley and Helen,
This is just a short note to let you know we took Buddy to our vet yesterday to get his final puppy shots and have a general check over for insurance purposes.
When the vet saw him he continuously repeated himself saying what an exquisite dog Buddy was in every way. As a proud owner it was so nice to hear such wonderful compliments being bestowed on our gorgeous boy, we knew he was a special boy and the vet just confirmed this for us.
He gave him a thorough examination and declared him perfect in every way, I did not even get the usual lecture on feeding a young pup because our vet has seen what a beautiful dog Cassie has grown into and knows that there is nothing wrong with the raw diet we are feeding both of them.
It was like Déjà vu, these were the exact same words that he used when Cassie first went for her first check up and has repeated these during our regular vet visits for her shots.
At the end of the examination he asked if I minded him taking him back into the surgery/care section of his practice so that he could show the vet nurses him and they too gushed all over him with lots of oohing and aahing.
He commented that he could see why my breeder was considered the premium Labradoodle breeder in the world because my two were a definite testament to that.
Thank you both for making this one very happy family with two very special Rutland Manor Labradoodles they will bring a lot of joy to our family for many years to come.

TRASSEL (Anya x Knossos) Arrives Finland 19th Nov 2010
Hi Beverley!
We are totally in love with him! He is so beautiful and lovely, and much more than we could ever imagine.
I have only superlatives to say. Thank you so much of him. After all this fuss, he arrived healthy and incredible well being .
I am so amazed about that! He was not afraid at all, only wagging his tail and licking our faces trying to play with us. It seems that this long journey would not have affected him an ounce.
Time is here in Finland 03.00 at night when I am writing this and we just came home from airport. I will tell you more tomorrow, when we have slept a little. This has been a long day and we are all so tired.

Hi Beverley!
Now we are rested and familiar with Trassel properly. He is absolutely adorable! He is a brave and very social by nature. Everybody is asking of him the breed and other details and say how beautiful and lovely he is. I always tell where he comes from and how wonderful dogs RM breeds.
He has been a very lively and playful throughout the day . I think he's having fun back in time, which was left off the travel days. The vet examined him today and he survived with flying colors.
The vet said that he has a good structure and temperament and he is physically in excellent condition. Thanks for that belongs to you! You have bred amazed dogs by appearence and nature. I have the pleasure and pride to own one of RM dogs!

More About Trassel
We are doing great with Trassel. He is a lively but can also be a quiet. He is very social and would like to go say hello to everyone and especially he loves children. When he sees on the path people coming he just sit there and wait eagerly his tail wagging wildly. He has stolen many, many hearts here and everybody is admiring his looks and nature also and everybody is commenting the texture of his coat and his exceptional colour.
His coat is really soft to touch! When we go for a walk, we spent a lot of time when people will admire him and ask what is his breed.. Also, my husband loves him very much! it's been great because he has not been previously able to touch a dog properly because of allergies, and now this small wonder dog did not cause him any reaction! For me it is very difficult to correctly believe it still!

| My son often says that "Mom, can it be really true that we have a dog!" This lovely creature has brought so much joy to our family and especially my life because the dogs have been so important to me always and I thought that I can never get a dog because of my husband`s allergies. That is why this is so meaningful and enriching life for me.
I feed him with fresh food and he especially likes his chicken wings and other bones very much! When I give them to him his tail is wagging all the time and I can see that he really enjoy them and gets so much mental satisfaction by scrunching them. Warm regards, Taina |
BACI Arrives in Perth Oct 2010 to join Sandie's other Rutland Manor Australian Labradoodle "KODY"
Well, today we had a visit to see Richard our Vet., just to say hi, get some worming tablest foir both Kody and Baci. We took Kody just to introduce them when he first came to us, so we thought we'd do the same. I wanted to weigh Kody as well so he came too.
Richard gave Baci a complete examination and made the comment that he was a gem, as he had done with Kody. He said conformation was perfect and that we had a really good pup indeed, was there any doubt?
He also said that if you find a good Breeder, don't change, which I wholeheartedly agree with. So you guys there at RM, be proud of the work you are doing, and in my opinion less is best. I can see the ammount of time that has gone into Baci. He was sitting from day one on command, and that wasn't my doing, he came like that. The only thing I have a complaint about is that he was not completely toilet trained, lol. And when I say that he has very few "accidents" inside at all, now who can we blame if he does have an oopsy, only his Mum for not being more diligent. Oh and by the way he sleeps through the night too.. All in all we have the perfect family, Kody and Baci get on so well, totally accepting of each other, the best thing ever to have done. One final comment, get a good Vet, Richard was more interested in speaking to Kody and Baci than anything else. We walked out of there feeling warm and fuzzy and we paid only for the worming tabs even though he had done a complete examination for Insurance purposes. The total cost $9.75... Not bad hey THANK YOU BEVERLEY, HELEN, and all other helpers at RM. Rutland Manor Experiences after the first month - is the reality as Beverley promised???
