Some of our dogs live with  guardian homes where they are part of the family.  They return to us to have and raise their puppies then go back home until their next breeding.

Their families  love to visit them during their stay and to meet and play with their babies.  While home with us they enjoy large grassed romping parks with shelter from inclement weather and are leash walked daily.

We don't have a lot of guardian homes, because we don't have a lot of dogs.  Lots of dogs would mean lots of puppies and the meticulous and time consuming conditioning and socialization we love to give to our puppies would be sure to  be restricted due to time constraints.  When you are passionate about what you do, it wouldn't make sense to do it any other way.

The dogs rotate between their play parks and in and around our home, with the speyed retired old girls Stella and  Clementine  They love it when it's time to swap again, it's like going to the dog park to play!  It's important to us that each dog spend quality time inside the house, curled up on my old furniture, and going for walks, because each one of them on retirement will go to their forever home to become someone's beloved family companion or helping dog.

At night they sleep inside safe bedrooms in keeping with council regulations and the entire complex has recently been secured with a sophisticated security system. Each morning they are taken out into the grassed paddocks to romp and play together in between grooming play and training sessions.

Our baby puppies are born in the specially kitted out Nursery which is just a few steps from my own laundry door.  Here they are pampered with air conditioning for hot weather and oil heating for cold.

They have their own CD player for selected music and a TV set so that when they are old enough their early cognitive responses can be stimulated.  Their mamas enjoy 'time out' from their maternal duties each day in the grassed 'Mothers Club' area which is part of my own back garden.

The Puppy Nursery is equipped with its own kitchen for preparing meals, and a grooming/ vet examination room where the babies can learn to enjoy being brushed and bathed, have their ears cleaned and worm medications and vaccinations administered.

After they have had their vaccinations, the babies  can enjoy romping in the secure grassed play parks with their mamas and siblings, play with the girls and have their training and socialization sessions.

Meet The Wonderful Rutland Manor Team.

At Rutland Manor we don't have 'staff' but a team of loyal and dedicated people hand picked for their passionate love of the dogs.  Yes, we could probably get by with fewer people than we do, but caring for dogs is so much more than basic things like cleaning and walking.  I never want anyone to think that they have to hurry so much to get finished, that there is no time to sit on the grass and cuddle a dog or a puppy. Seeing these little scenes is what warms my heart and puts a smile on my face.

EILEEN is a loyal friend and has been helping me to keep the house clean and tidy for almost eight years now.  She also cooks me an evening meal because she knows that I often forget to eat!

Eileen is a true dog lover and often takes a couple of the dogs for a nice long walk in her own time.  Thank you Eileen for everything you do.

KERRIE came to us almost five years ago just to groom and leash walk the dogs every day.  Before long she fell so much in love with them that she couldn't stay away from the puppies either, and gradually her daily routine grew...and grew...like Topsy...and she gives an extra  hand wherever and whenever it is needed.

Thank you Kerrie for being the ever kind, reliable and giving person you are.

LEITH has now been giving her heart and soul to the RM Australian Labradoodles for almost two years.  She has a ton of energy and nothing is too much trouble, whether it means staying back late, starting early, or taking a dog home with her to sleep on her bed after being speyed or just for some extra loving and petting.

Thank you Leith, you may be the team member who has been with us the shortest time, but the Rutland Manor Team wouldn't be the same without you.

TIM  is Leith's son and like his mother, he has a huge heart of kindness for the dogs and they love him equally in return. You are appreciated Tim, for your willingness,  and the gentle caring spirit not always found in a lad of fifteen.  When Tim isn't with the Labradoodles, his other passion is fishing.

Tim gives of his time without pay simply because he adores the dogs and loves to spend time with them. He's a pretty neat hand on the lawnmower too!

HELEN is the cheerful helpful voice you hear when you call us on the telephone.  She is the anchor of the Rutland Manor Team. Efficient to a tee, and a wonderful organizer and planner, Helen manages all the tough stuff that's involved with handling the complexities of an Adoption agency, which is after all exactly what we are!

We appreciate you Helen for your reliability, your multiple tasking talents, and for getting the job done no matter what the problems may be along the way.  You juggle many tender emotions on a daily basis, and are still able to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together.  Thank you.

HOLLY  is so appreciated for her unfailing love and kindness towards the dogs and puppies, her reliability, and total commitment to any task she takes on.

The animals always come first for Holly and she is meticulous, caring and conscientious.

Holly is furthering her education and makes herself available as often as possible and is always greeted by excited happy tailwagging in welcome.

MARY ANN is a full time student, but loves to spend as much time as she can here with the puppies and the dogs for the pure love of them.

She often answers the call even at short notice and enjoys spending her time caring for the animals.  We appreciate you Mary Ann for your kind and gentle heart, and the way you apply yourself to anything you are called on to do, no matter how menial.  Mary Ann is a talented artist and expresses herself through her beautiful animal portraits.
