Rutlands Kelby A Legend in his Own Lifetime
KELBY always a favourite with the children
The name of Kelby is beloved by families across the world. There is no other Australian Labradoodle who has had such a profound influence on the breed as this wonderful dog and his large following of fans still remember him through their amazing puppies whom he sired.
Kelby's progeny all bear the hallmarks of their illustrious sire, in intuition beyond logical explanation, magnificence in stature and their gentle loving natures. The inspiring tales of Kelby's sons and daughters would fill a website larger than this, or a book of voluminous proportions.
His tragic loss by deceitful means through the alleged collaboration of Twyla Pyles in Texas and her close friend Kate Pappas in California, working with animal activists in Australia, will not affect his influence on the breed, because of his daughters still breeding, but I will forever mourn his physical loss to me on a personal basis. The last time I looked into Kelby's wonderful eyes in Texas, I thought it was 'au revoir' but it was to be 'goodbye'. I didn't know it, but I think Kelby did. There was something inexplicable in his expression that I couldn't read on that fateful night but understand now. Wherever you are Kelby, I will always love you.

Rutland Manor's doors used to be always wide open for friends and strangers alike over many years until the extremist animal activists with their trickery and invasion in Australia made this hospitality impossible. Many overseas visitors to Australia stayed at Rutland Manor while visiting the country to meet the Rutlands Australian Labradoodles, and Kelby was always a great favourite who welcomed everyone from toddlers to the elderly, like the goofy, dignified affectionate gentleman he was.
Kelby daughters and grand daughters carry on his legacy across the world.
