Preventable Dog Diseases
This important topic deserves its own section on the website because there is so much ground breaking research being done into the health of dogs and so much new information is available ongoing. Western culture tends to accept disease, especially in senior years as being normal and even inevitable. Unfortunately some veterinarians also hold the same view and can be more interested in treating disease than in preventing it from occurring in the first place.
We knew it long ago! But what have we done about it?Excerpt from Article : Nutrition Health Review Article date: June 22, 1990
"The past few years have brought to the surface a realization that food might have considerable effect upon fortifying the body against disease. Once relegated to "pipe dreams" of food faddists, the scientific community is beginning to embrace such concepts of nutrition with fervor. It was a rare occurrence in the 1960's for a dog to be taken to the vet for anything other than treatment after an accident, or for vaccination. Dogs just didn't often get sick! It was unheard of, for a dog to have cancer, kidney dysfunction, liver failure, diabetes, or allergies - all of which have reached pandemic proportions. Dogs routinely lived to 18 and even 20 years and then one day, were found passed away where they had curled up to sleep. Something has to have changed! The most common disease in Animals is AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE. Anemia, seizures , arthritis, allergies & many more are all autoimmune diseases Ref: CIDP International organization One of the advantages of getting older is that one has had the opportunity to witness cycles that come and go, and to see the results of trends that have taken years to develop. During the sixties I worked for the chain of three Elva Raper Boarding Kennels in Melbourne Australia. I lived on site at her Burwood Rd Wantirna kennels in Melbourne and later on, I lived on and managed her Braeside kennels when she purchased them from internationally renowned all breeds judge, Mr Cam Milward, breeder of the famous Grenpark Fox Terriers. In busy holiday periods, the combined population of 800 boarding dogs and 120 cats gave me first hand experience with the health and condition of many pure breed and cross breed dogs and cats and the opportunity to talk with their owners. The first commercially processed dry food I remember was Harpers Dog Chow which I was asked to trial. But that's a whole other story. |
ARE TOO MANY AND TOO FREQUENT VACCINES REALLY KILLING OUR DOGS?
I DO believe in vets administering vaccines to dogs. What I do NOT believe in, is vaccinating every 12 months, with vaccinations that have at least a 36 month efficacy period by the vaccine makers' own admissions - along with the known carcinogens contained in the vaccines! A titre test (blood test) gives an accurate reading of the levels of vaccine still active in the dog's body, and nesodes are a scientifically proven healthy alternative to currently legislated vaccines. So why aren't vets telling us? Some vets are!

Unnecessary annual vaccinations are killing our dogs! Why are we mindlessly over - vaccinating our dogs year after year, generation after generation, when there is so much scientific evidence to show how dangerous it is and how many dogs it is making ill or even killing? You will find many more informed and authoritative information on the internet, including articles by Dr Jean Dodds , and Dr Ronald Schultz, both renowned world authorities on conditions of the canine Auto Immune System. Vaccination Laws Need to be Changed. We should be pressing for titer tests to be legal verification of sufficient antibodies being present in our pets before being forced by law to over vaccinate them. Let's pledge to insist on titer tests in place of repetitive vaccinations. It makes so much sense. A titer test (blood test) determines whether or not the original vaccine still has the required level of antibodies in the dog's system, to protect the dog from infectious disease/s. It makes NO sense to continue pumping the dog's system full of poisons when the active levels of vaccine are still adequately high for full protection. |
Disclaimer:
I am not a trained medical professional nor am I a scientist, but I have spent over 50 years researching the work of others more qualified than myself, and alongside my research, I have observed and documented my findings. When not studying, my 'laboratory' has been in the field, with my credentials being a breeder of top quality dogs, persian cats, stud cattle, horses, sheep and goats-boarding kennel operator with the welfare of up to 800 dogs and 120 cats at any one time my responsibility, a professional animal behaviorist, and professional dog trainer. Another name for anecdotal research is 'experience'. I've realised the need to step outside the box with an open mind and to not blindly cling to traditional values which may have become outdated in our modern world. |
