ARE VACCINES KILLING OUR DOGS?

When I was a girl, it was a rare occurrence for a dog to be taken to the vet for anything other than treatment after an accident, or for vaccination. Dogs just didn't often get sick! It was almost unheard of, for a dog to have cancer, kidney dysfunction, diabetes, addisons,vaccinosis or allergies - all of which have reached pandemic status in the millenium.
One of the advantages of getting old is that one has had the opportunity to witness various cycles that come and go, and trends that have taken many years to develop. I first began to notice a decline in the health of dogs, a few years after the introduction of dry dog food. I didn't immediately make the connection, until I examined the extensive notes I'd been keeping and later on, read articles written by highly regarded veterinarians. These research notes substantiated the conclusions I had reached.

Interestingly, it was a few years after the explosion of 'convenience' foods and highly processed packaged foods that human health began its steep decline. I remember a headline in a major newspaper years ago which announced "RECENT RESEARCH LINKS DIET TO HEALTH" something that we know all too well today, although many of us do not adhere to the principles of eating for good health, or at least not until our bodies have finally given up fighting against the injustices we load onto them and we succumb to serious illness that gives us a wake up call!

This important topic deserves its own section on the website because there is so much ground breaking work being done into the health of dogs and so much new information becoming available. In an ideal world, if breeders and owners work synergistically with a like goal, breeders will keep themselves updated on new veterinary research findings and owners will familarize themselves with the role they play themselves, in maintaining their dogs' health into old age.
There is something about illness and disease which our culture can tend to view as inevitable, accepting it as either hereditary and therefore unavoidable, or unpreventable in other ways. Unfortunately some veterinarians also hold the same view and can be more interested in treating disease than in preventing it from occurring in the first place.
I fully realize that my views may be controversial, and I freely admit that I am not a trained medical professional nor am I a scientist. However I have spent many years researching the findings of others more qualified than myself, and alongside my research, I have anecdotally observed and documented my findings, while becoming aware of the need to be able to step outside the box and to think laterally, rather than blindly cling to traditional values which may have become outdated in our modern world. Change is a necessary part of evolutionary thinking, yet it can be one of the most challenging and difficult of concepts for the human mind to accept.

Evolution
Broadly speaking, and in its simplest terms, evolution is merely 'change over time' (not to be confused with the 'therory of evolution' in respect to the 'therory of Evolution' v Creation. It is the more specific biological evolution that we are concerned with here and also Adaptation evolution. Biological evolution refers to the changes over time that occur in living organisms. Biological evolution is defined as 'descent with modification' and Adaptation evolution as the name suggests, refers to the way living organisms (or creatures) adapt over time to the changes in their own environment. These adaptations can of course be either positive or negative, in line with other universal laws of nature.
All dogs are descended from the Wolf. In fact the DNA of the modern dog is only 2% different than the Wolf.
An illustration of Biological evolution is the overall changes in the appearance of the canis species by way of the hundreds of man - made dog breeds in the world today. Although humanly engineered, the process of evolution has been clearly demonstrated b y the way in which each breed - over time - now has its own specific and consistent appearance. It would be naive to suggest that these mofifications would be confined to physical appearance. Genetic traits of temperament, nature, and physiological traits have also been modified - over time - in parallel with the accompanying external or phenetic features.
We already know
We already know that what I have described above is called 'inheritance' and that dogs have a predisposition to pass on to their offspring specific traits when combined with the genes of their breeding partners. I am calling this 'biological inheritance'. What this article sets out to do, is to widen the concept of inheritance to include the effects of the external environment around our dogs and to consider the possibility that - again over time - externally induced disease may well become fixed in the genes and transmit themselves to biological inheritance. I call this phenomonyn 'Genetic Acclimatization'.
Example
This has already been done with crops, to create strains which are resistant to disease such as rust. Although I am not a prononent of genetic engineering, I use this example as an illustration only.
Something to Think About
My theory is that illness, caused either by direct hereditary influences, OR by other external environmental factors, may become a generational thing with the appropriate circumstances. Could it be that when several generations have passed, during which disease has been caused by external factors, these diseases may become part of the genetic make up? If the answer is 'yes', then we have the power to exert an influence for good on future dog generations, by removing as many negative environmental influences as possible from around our breeding dogs.

Vaccination Laws Need to be Changed!
Insist on titer tests before over vaccinating your pets!
If dog owners will stand together with one voice and insist on titer tests in place of ongoing vaccinations things will change. It makes so much sense. A titer test (blood test) determines whether or not the original vaccine still has the required level of antibodies in the dog's system, to protect the dog from the disease/s. It makes NO sense to continue pumping the dog's system full of poisons when the levels of vaccine are still adequately high enough for full protection.

It is my view that each individual breeding bitch should determine if and when she is fit to be bred. Her physical and emotional condition is the indicator of whether there is any good reason to not breed her. I understand that bitches need to be protected from irresponsible owners, so perhaps a compulsory veterinary examination prior to each mating would be a more sensible approach?
It is an expensive process, to breed, properly raise and health test a breeding dog, and her first litter comes nowhere near to repaying the breeder for money spent. Negative impact caused by current laws, is that many breeders continue to breed their bitches into old age, to 'make up for' the litters they are not permitted to breed while their bitches are in their prime. I believe that it is kinder and safer to breed a bitch back to back and to retire her and spay her while she is still young enough to have many years of her life ahead of her as a desexed beloved pet.
BREEDERS NEED TO UNITE, WHETHER THEY BREED PURE BRED OR CROSS BRED DOGS, AND LOBBY FOR CHANGES IN BREEDING LAWS BEFORE THE ANIMAL LIBERATION/RIGHTS MOVEMENT SUCCEEDS IN GETTING LEGISLATION PASSED THAT PROHIBITS THE RIGHTS OF A HUMAN BEING TO OWN A COMPANION ANIMAL..
Every dog lover is rightly appalled at the existence of puppy mills. But the Animal LIBERATION Activists would have you believe that any high profile dog breeder is automatically a puppy 'factory' or 'puppy farm' regardless of the care they take of their dogs.
And what about BACK YARD Breeders? 90% of pure breed dog breeders live in suburban areas where they breed from their own homes. Often their small handful of valuable dogs live lives of luxury in their owners' homes, yet these breeders are labeled by the activists as something 'dirty' and to be despised............because they are 'back yard' breeders.
IT MAKES NO SENSE. READ BETWEEN THE LINES. If a dog breeder takes great care of their dogs, health tests their breeding parents, raises their puppies with love and the very best of everything, and takes great care in selecting the best possible homes for their puppies, is it just that they be 'labeled' with a name that resonates with something despicable?
The problem of bad breeders, and REAL puppy mills is a problem that is ridiculously simple to solve. But the activists don't want to solve the problem, they want to put an end to all breeding of companion animals by stirring emotional responses to the relatively few puppy mills out there. Please read my Paper on the simple ways that will put an end fo REAL puppy factories quickly and easily and ask yourself WHY the activists and others are not persuing this solution? We are being brainwashed with emotional social engineering. If dog breeders everywhere do not act soon, there will be no pet dogs for our grandchildren to enjoy.
