Beverley Manners' motivation to develop a brand new dog breed was that after thirty plus involvement with pure breeds, including breeding, exhibiting and judging pure breed dogs, she was disheartened with their health status and restricted gene pool/s.
Her motivating drive was to create a healthier dog breed which remains her focus today. A self confessed soundness fanatic, conformation and temperament are uppermost in her priorities and the unique intuition that has become the hallmark of Rutland Manor bred Australian Labradoodles. The "trimmings" as she calls them, of non shedding and allergy friendly coats are the cream on the peaches. |

Beverley played with her new breed for ten years as a hobby, and when she felt confident that the breed was progressing satisfactorily, she registered the Rutland Manor Labradoodle Breeding and Research Centre in 1999. Rutland Manor was grounded on the solid foundation of a far reaching vision, one that was based on God's principles of love, the desire to help others and a commitment to the responsibility attached to being a Steward of God's creatures.
After 31 years devoted to the German Shepherd breed under the prefix 'Grafenburg' (not Von Grafenburg) 'Rutland' was the last German Shepherd Dog Beverley bred. He took his name from Beverley's family name of 'Rutland-Manners'. It was fitting that his name be honoured as the ending of an era and part of the new vision. The name 'Manners' in olde England meant 'people who lived in Manors and so 'Rutland Manor' was born. |
