| Hello !
We receive many
emails from families asking "How long will
our wait be for a puppy?" This can be a
difficult question to answer because there are
so many variables along the way. We hope
that this page helps you and your family to
better understand the process and it also gives
you some tips on shortening your waiting time
for your very own Rutland Manor family member.
Below are some typical questions and our best
attempts to answer them. We do hope you
find it helpful!
Q. How
long is your wait list?
A. The wait list
has a 'life of its own' Often, waiting
families change their preferences
regarding color, gender, coat type and even
size even at practically the last minute. Other times, they will quite
frequently defer to another litter at almost the
last minute due to some unforeseen family
circumstance happening. When this occurs,
a puppy that suits YOU could become available
almost immediately if you are already on our
wait list. But if you have not included
this puppy's color and gender in your Wish List
you may not be offered him or her and the puppy
will appear on the "Available" page of the
website. Many times these puppies are
quickly spoken for by someone who may not even
be already on our list.
Q. Can
we request a puppy from a particular set of
parents?
A. If we
are already planning to breed these two dogs
together, or have already done so, yes you can
request a puppy from a particular litter.
This of course ties you in with the timeframe
that this particular litter will be ready to
leave Rutland Manor. So you would need to
carefully check ahead to make sure that your own
schedule fits in with the arrival time to
you and your family. There is also the
chance that if you insist on only one
color or gender you could find yourself
disappointed if this color is not present in the
preferred litter and so your wait is lengthened.
Whether we can comply with your request will
also depend on how many other families have been
waiting before you for puppies from this
particular litter.
Finally, the
more flexible you are with your preferences, the
shorter your waiting time will be. Asking
for 'nothing
but a Red female'
for instance will almost certainly see many
other families receiving their puppy long before
you receive yours. |
How The
Process Works. Please Read Carefully.
You've
done your research and decided that you would like an
ASD Australian Labradoodle puppy from Rutland Manor. The
first step is to email us (see Contacts Page) and ask
for our information pack which relates to the country you
live in.
We will
respond by email, usually within two business days. You
are welcome to call us or email again if there are any
questions you still have after reading the information.
Along with the information pack which outlines procedures
and pricing including travel, we email you our application
form/wish list which we work from when selecting the most
ideal puppy for each family's individual lifestyle and
situation.
When you
feel comfortable to move forward, you fax your
application/wish list to us along with your authority for us
to process your booking fee (which is non refundable).
You are emailed back with confirmation details and
congratulating you for being officially on our wait list.
When
we think that your puppy has been born, we write your name
on our office board in 'blue' which tells
US that we are
watching this puppy to see if he or she will be ideal for
you and your family. At this point we have not yet
told you that we think your puppy is born, just in case we
decide a puppy from a different litter will be more suitable
for you once the puppies are older and their personalities
and other features assessed.
When the
puppies are about four weeks old, we have checked them
against those families who are written in 'blue' and when
we're sure that this litter does indeed hold your precious
puppy, we email you with our 'Exciting News' email.
This asks you to double check that the proposed date for
delivery suits you. We need you to either accept or
decline as soon as possible as travel
and Shipping and other arrangements need to be
made well in advance. Your puppy emails you with two
progress emails which let you know what is happening in
daily life with
him or her.

Puppy
photos are published on the website as close as possible to each two weeks from
birth, up to the time of departure. Sometimes we have the
time to do extras in between. It is fun looking at the
photos and wondering which one of the little bundles will be
your very own! Please do not email us asking which one
is yours until you hear from us. It can be
disappointing to fall in love with a photo an then discover
that a different puppy has been chosen as more suitable for
you and your family.
When
we have completed character analysis and temperament
testing at around six weeks of age and we are sure we have made the best choices,
we send you the 'exciting news' email. This is when
you need to respond promptly to
let us know that you accept (or decline) the puppy
and of
course that you have double checked that your schedule fits
in with the projected arrival time!
The
Allocating time frame is very short as we have much to
organize and accomplish. If we have not heard back
from you promptly to accept or decline a puppy from the
litter offered, then we need to move on quickly to the
next family waiting in line for the same kind of puppy.
When you
accept a puppy from the litter offered, we change your name
on the board from 'blue' to 'green' which tells us at a
glance, that all is in order and that you can be invoiced
and final arrangements made. Finally,
the Shipping Company emails you several days before
departure from Rutland Manor, confirming arrival times
at your designated International Airport.
WE
UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY HOW EXCITED THE CHILDREN WILL BECOME
AS THE TIME DRAWS NEAR, BUT PLEASE TRY AND KEEP EMAILS TO A
MINIMUM! WE ARE SPENDING A LOT OF TIME WITH YOUR PUPPY
AND TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH LOTS OF DAILY EMAILS DETRACTS
FROM THE QUALITY OF TIME GIVEN EACH PRECIOUS BABY.
The
shipping company will advise you of time of arrival of your
puppy, but it isn't possible to confirm flight
times any sooner than a few days prior due to world-wide airline restrictions
which came into place after the 9/11 tragedy in New York.
Puppies will not be flown in to arrive on a public holiday
nor on a week end, because IATA staff who are responsible
for the welfare and safety of livestock in transit do not
work at the airports on these days.
But
at last the wonderful moment arrives when you and your family
meet your gorgeous new family member. We hope to hear
from you really soon, as to what you think of your baby, and
that he or she is safely home with you.
