Showcasing Rutland Manor ASD Labradoodle Service  & Therapy Dogs

"Born to Serve"

The ASD Australian Labradoodle was developed with its primary purpose being a dog with an extremely intuitive, easily trainable mind suited  to be a Service Dog for the physically or emotionally challenged child or adult  who is unable to live with most kinds of dog due to dog related allergies.  Hence the 'ASD' (Australian Service Dog) Labradoodle name.   The way this serving breed has endeared itself across the world as the ideal family companion has been a delightful serendipity.   This page and the next few pages  showcase just a few  who are distinguishing themselves as Service  and  Therapy Dogs.

It is a great sadness to the Founders that the Registry Associations originally set up by the Founders of the breed to protect its future, now have their own ideas about how the breed should be further developed, as is clearly shown by the following letter sent by the integrated International Labradoodle Association (ILA) Labradoodle  Association of Australia (LAA)  etc  to their members.

Quote:  "Recently the ALAA has evaluated the new ALPS/ASD association and their vision for the Australian Labradoodle as explained on their web page at http://www.alpsdoodles.org/  . It is the feeling of the Board that the ALPS/ASD’s mission and purpose is contrary to the vision of the ALAA.  As ALAA Board members are involved with establishing standards, procedures, and regulations for our association we feel that it is imperative that all Board members be committed to our visionary direction.  Therefore, it has been determined that it is a conflict of interest for policy setting members of the ALAA, officers and committee members, to pledge membership to ALPS/ASD.    Meet Loudle            14 yrs Young Dec 2007

Rutlands Loudle, 14yrs old  in December 2007 lives with her adoring human parents Graeme and Dellis, in Melbourne Australia where she has been serving and comforting countless suffering and ill patients in three Melbourne Hospitals since 1998.  On 12th July 2007 Graeme and Dellis visited Rutland Manor with Loudle,  for a tearfully happy reunion.

Loudle has led a busy social life since her early puppy days with Footie mascotting, Fashion parading, TV appearances and Festivals and Competitions.  Dog visitations to hospitals were not a usual practice in Melbourne in those days and it was Loudle's  gentle winning ways and clean allergy friendly coat that  soon won her favor until not one, but three major hospitals had her officially I.D.'d and on their books as Therapy Dog for their patients.

...And celebrating with Annie on her 101st Birthday 2007

Very impressed with how graceful and athletic Loudle still is at age fourteen, I asked Graeme and Dellis how her health has been.  'never a sick day' said Dellis 'she was getting a bit stiff awhile back and we put her on a joint eze product and she's been good as gold ever since'.

Graeme had us in stitches as he related an anecdote from when the family had moved house some years back.  Because of Hospital Visitation requirements, Loudle has a bath every Monday in the couple's shower recess.  She stands with her back to the wall, facing the door and seems to enjoy the showering down of the water.

One Monday, not long after the family moved into their new home, they couldn't find Loudle anywhere.  Panic stricken, all kinds of thoughts went through their minds.  Had she tried to go back to the old home and gotten lost?  Was she hurt somewhere, or stolen?  They searched and called, and called and searched until finally, by accident, they found her.  Loudle was standing in the new shower recess, with her back to the wall, facing the open door and just quietly waiting...waiting.    Well, it WAS Monday wasn't it? !

Graeme and Dellis have their name down for another Rutland Manor  therapy bred ASD Labradoodle for 2007/8 so that Loudle can use her influence in setting the new puppy onto the right track.

These are Impressive pawprints to follow but Loudle will be mentor to an adaptable  youngster who comes from the same heritage and bloodlines as she does.  It will be something beautiful to watch.  Stay tuned.
