| Dear little Sunnie was
trying to catch our attention
all day Thursday 8th May.
She barked a lot (most
unusual) was on the run all day,
back and forth, and was
generally being what we thought
was quite 'naughty' (also
unusual). She was showing
no signs of having her babies,
and because she wasn't due until
Wednesday 14th May we
thought she was just being a
scallywag. But Sunnie knew
what we did not, that she was
going to deliver her babies five
days early. Just as Helen
was leaving to go home at around
5pm I noticed her hurrying
towards the house carrying
something in her arms.
Behind her was Sarah also
carrying something in her arms.
I ran out to meet them wondering
what had happened, and saw that
Helen was carrying Sunnie and
Sarah had a blanket with four
tiny babies in it! Sunnie
had started to deliver her very
first litter of babies outside
in the garden.
Helen knows how tired grandma
is, and like the trouper she is,
she put off going home, set up a
nice warm nest for Sunnie inside
and helped me warm up the tiny
little newborns. She
called her husband Geoff who
arrived soon after with their 12
yr old son Gary, and fish and
chips for our dinner.
Before long, Sunnie had settled,
very grateful for all the
attention she had been craving
all day! We hope you enjoy
sharing tonight's experiences in
picture. Gary
announced that he wouldn't be
going to school next day,
because he was going to be
coming here, helping baby
puppies drink. I didn't
hear Helen and Geoff's response
to that! |
