The lovely Wanda came to us
completely by accident. Her pedigree was not
impressive, but she was special from the very first day.
Gentle of spirit, kind intuitive and biddable she was an
absolute joy. She produced outstanding puppies to
Rutlands Magnum, Stuartleigh Rustie Ryan and Rutlands Redd
Baron, and all her babies refflected her own sweetness.
Whereas she was 'Happy Wanderer OF Rutland Manor' her
baby daughter we have kept to carry on her tradition has
been named "Rutlands Happy Wanderer" (Happy) in
her beautiful mother's honor. Wanda retired to her loving
Forever Home the United States in November 2007.
Here is her new family's accounting of her arrival.
"Beverley,
She is here and she is fabulous!
Her tail has not stopped wagging. I cooked brown rice and
chicken, and she ate well and seemed to like everything. She
is great and I am thrilled. I will send pictures soon."
And....
"Beverly, I have to tell you how
much I adore Wanda! She is a fabulous dog. Her tail was
wagging in her crate at the airport, and it hasn't stopped
except when she is sleeping. I have not heard her bark in
the 2 weeks she has been here. And she loves attention and
affection (actually, so do I).
She is beautifully trained, and so
much easier to walk than my 2 Maltepoos. (I wish you could
train them for me.) She has been completely accepted by
Rosie (my 15 lb. Maltelpoo) and Bella (8 lbs) is working on
it. She briefly forgot herself yesterday and started to play
- then she remembered that Wanda has disturbed the balance.
It was pretty funny. I think the fact that she has had
puppies makes her very accepting of the other two. Bella
barked at her a lot in the beginning, and Wanda just ignored
her.
We're walking a couple of miles
every morning and maybe 1 mile in the evening. I did take
her on a 6+ mile walk, and she did very well. I just want to
make sure she is getting everything she needs and is used
to.
Thank you so much for this amazing
dog - she is even more wonderful than I hoped she would be.
I will send pictures soon. We are moving tomorrow after 33
years in the same 5200 sq. ft. house, and I have been so
busy. We are going to a 1700 sq. ft. house on a big lot with
a big fenced yard. I am looking forward to spending some
quiet time on the sofa with all the dogs, which I will do
before all the boxes are unpacked.
Karen." |
